Just wanted to share a list of my favorite restaurants in NYC and DC (including, of course, my hometown Virginia too)…
.) Mari Vanna: A Russian style restaurant in DC. You’ll love the traditional dumplings, rolls and entrees while enjoying the strolling accordion musician. The atmosphere is filled with his lively entertainment that energizes everyone to clap and sing along. This place has a lot of interesting antique furniture and Russian decor…not too shabby!
.) Republic: A fresh noodle and dumpling soup restaurant in Union Square. It is a blending of spices and cooking from Vietnam, Japan, China and Thailand. You must try the wonton soup. It’s my favorite!
.) Lebanese Taverna: It was voted Best of DC Middle Eastern Restaurant in 2013. Located in Tyson’s Corner in McLean, VA. If you really want to try something different, this is the place to go. Their dishes are authentic and spiced the traditional Lebanese way. I know many people shy away from spicy food, but as for me, this is the spot. My favorite is the classic chicken shawarma or maybe its the tabbouleh, or baba ghanouj, but no matter, you must try this!
.) Pulino’s: One of the best traditional Italian restaurants in the Bowery. They have the best pizza that I’ve ever eaten in NYC! Interestingly, this owner, Keith McNally, owns 12 restaurants in NYC!
.) Cava Mezze: A Greek restaurant in Clarendon, VA. I love the way they fire up a dish for the customers. Very entertaining!
.) Bodega: A Spanish tapas restaurant in Georgetown! Tapas means “little plates”. You can sample a number of undeniably authentic Spanish cuisine and, afterwards, check out the boutiques and funky shops along the famous “M” Street corridor.
.) Standard Grill: One of the highest rated restaurants located in the prestigious Meatpacking District in Manhattan alongside the High Line Park. Every season, Chef Dan Silverman changes the menu. I like to be surprised by the new items but I can always count on it being delicious!
.) Rosa Mexicano: A Mexican restaurant in National Harbor, DC and Union Square! Best guacamole and enchiladas!
.) Il Bastardo: A fabulous Tuscan Grill in Chelsea! I found out about this place from my old favorite MTV reality show, “The City.” The show featured an episode filmed at this restaurant and included a small part for one of Il Bastardo’s owners, Adam Senn, a model and actor. Unfortunately, by the time I came to Il Bastardo, Adam had already left (I’ll tell you details later. LOL)
.) Morandi: Another Keith McNally restaurant. A modern twist to your favorite Italian dishes. Located in West Village. Mushroom ravioli was the BEST!
.) Spice Market: A Southeast Asian restaurant in the Meatpacking District. The menu is inspired by the street food in Southeast Asia and served family-style. The venue was entertaining!
.) Logan Tavern: An American restaurant in Logan’s Circle, Washington, DC ! Such good food!
So…I would love to go out for lunch or dinner with friends and family when you visit NYC or…I when come into town. Feel free to send me messages so we can plan a delightful place to dine! XOXO
