Outsider Art Fair 2015

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the Outsider Art Fair at the Center 548 gallery near my school in Chelsea. The exhibition presented extraordinary works by legendary and newly discovered self-taught artists from many countries. One artist who caught my attention was Angela Rogers. Her work reminded me of Basquiat, and I later learned that her art style was hugely influenced by him. Rogers is a “self-taught artist, singer, poet, and performer in Manhattan and attends the HAI studio program. Her haunting, eerie, figurative, visionary paintings are influenced and inspired by her southern Gothic childhood and her life-long interest helps her dealing with fear, wild, and imaginary emotions.” I was amazed and overwhelmed to see all the talented and brilliant works of art.
Most significantly, all proceeds from the sales of work at the Outsider Art Fair will go to benefit and support “God’s Love We Deliver” foundation that provides nutritious, packaged meals delivered to those living with life-altering illnesses. Tomorrow is the last day for Outsider Art Fair. Don’t miss it! 😀

Antonio Ortega

This Mexican-born designer, Antonio Ortega, presented his colorful collection in Paris last night for Haute Couture Fashion Week. He stated that his collection was inspired by the graffiti artwork in his current hometown of Montreal, Canada. The colors are influenced from the rainbow-hued places everywhere in Mexico from his childhood memories! The print on the fabric is similar to the street art designs and the headgear looks like a bright sun shining over Mexico. This is such a unique and stunning collection!
