My collage is entitled “Sakura,” the flowering cherry tree–the living and enduring symbol of friendship. Its blossoms are so delicate, graceful and lovely with diverse colors and shapes. I grew up in a suburb of Washington, D.C. and did not miss seeing the blossoms each spring. I was always in wonderment and awe as I walked along the Tidal Basin admiring the fragile, dainty flowers that last just a few weeks before gently fluttering to the ground. Its colors are so vast and range from nearly pure white, tinged with the palest pink to vibrant lavender and striking magenta. This year’s annual National Cherry Blossom Festival will be held over three weeks from March 20th through April 12th. You must visit this great springtime celebration and experience the blossom’s beauty, grace and elegance.
