New York International Bridal Week is a three-day exhibition at Pier 92 on the Hudson River. It’s a trade show where manufacturers and retailers showcase their designer bridal collections, including cosmetics and beauty products, gems and jewelry, and gifts and handicrafts for the Spring 2016 season. I was the intern assigned to Orabella Haute Couture, an Israeli fashion house. I supported Arlene Mittleman, President of The Bridal Fashion Group. As her intern, my responsibilities involved everything from greeting clients, scheduling appointments, maintaining inventory to assisting her fashion model, Brittany. And we had many, many bridal gown changes. I was exhausted at the end of the day, but it was all worth it!

My fave look… You rocked in that gown, Britt👗👠💄🙌🏽
International Bridal Fashion Week…was amazing. It was terrific working with Orabella’s model, Brittany. She’s our next supermodel!
Brochures check… Flowers check… Furniture check. Now greeting the guests before the show.

#PFW Alexander McQueen’s collection was inspired by the Victorian Age during the French revolution when the royal palace was changed into a prison. The symbolic rose begins as a tight bud opening into a lush bloom, and then eventually collapsing back onto itself in a gorgeous decay!
He was one of my fave designers and my fave looks…especially the pale lace dress with a black necklace/choker. My other favorite is the red lace embroidered gown adorned with trailing roses. Sarah Burton stated that the messy, pillowy big hair and pale makeup were styled to resemble faded roses with all its softness and gloom.
Rock ‘n’ Roll, Edgy, and Hell on Wheels! Hedi Slimane, the innovative director for Saint Laurent, was inspired by the creative vision of a rebel girl. This season, Saint Laurent’s collection is all about rock stars and their groupies, complete with cigarette-printed pieces, black crayon eyeliner, red lips and leather. A real throwback to the times and fashion of the late Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen.
Alexander Wang was inspired by his customers who stated they wanted “black” clothing. He presented his “all black” collection with a few pop colors. My fave: the white sweater with blue jeans that was a throwback to the 90’s, and the red plaid jacket with black jeans!
In 1962, Valentino presented his first all-white haute couture collection in Florence. This week, to celebrate the opening of the brand’s largest Fifth Avenue flagship store, Valentino once again presented an all-white collection. It was shown for the first time in New York City at the Whitney Museum.
Every detail of his collection was “imbued with a lightness that is typically absent at couture shows—instead of heavy fabrics or beading, we saw thin, see-through tulle, delicate straps, and double-faced cashmere”. It is a stunning winter white couture collection.
Stay tuned — New York Fashion Week is February 12-19, 2015.
It’s Bridal Market Fashion Week and I had the opportunity and privilege to be working with this vintage, boho-style bridal designer, Claire Pettibone from LA. Her inspiration developed from artistic parents–her father was a landscape artist and her mother a photo-realist painter. The runway show was adorned as a vineyard with a garden filled with flowers and candles held in the historic High Line Hotel located in Meatpacking. I was among the FIT volunteers preparing gift boxes, flowers and programs as well as organizing, taking inventory, and assisting models. It was an exciting and dynamic occasion to be a part of it, backstage and learning so much about the industry. More significantly, I had the chance to meet this spirited and energetic designer. Thank you so much Claire Pettibone, for giving me this opportunity to work with your team!

Designer Olivier Rousteing’s latest collection for Balmain was inspired by graphics with grids and stripes blocking the body. Last season, the collection was inspired by the jungle!
Loved Anthony Vaccarello’s collection! It reminded me of the designs for Diesel.
Paris Fashion Week is over and everyone has returned home in time to prepare for NY Bridal Fashion Week which begins in just a few days.
The British pop-star turned style icon and designer, Victoria Beckham, has evolved her career from Spice Girl to fashion to United Nations goodwill ambassador. After launching her collection for NYFW the last two seasons, Beckham recently opened her first boutique in London’s famed Dover Street. Although her collection sells in over 60 countries, this will be her first store.
“I think the time is now because I know my customer” Beckham stated, “I’m British and I’m proud to be.”
